Boarding is more than a place to sleep. It is knowing who is responsible when the school day ends. Gratton operates two school-managed boarding houses where learners have structure, supervision and responsible adults whom parents can contact directly.
Responsible Adults After the School Day
Our matrons and boarding supervisors are employed directly by Gratton School. Responsible adults supervise homework, enforce curfews, control visitors, oversee meals and respond when a learner needs help or an emergency occurs. Parents know who is accountable and who to contact.
An Environment Built for Academics
A structured boarding environment protects time for learning. Gratton boarding includes mandatory, supervised evening study sessions to ensure homework and revision are completed to a high standard. We also provide balanced, nutritious meals prepared daily by our kitchen staff, alongside direct access to our sports facilities for healthy afternoon recreation.
What Responsible School Boarding Looks Like
-
Clear Boundaries: Curfews, visitor control and school rules continue after lessons end.
-
Academic Focus: Supervised evening prep ensures learners actually do their schoolwork.
-
Health & Wellbeing: Full, balanced meals are provided, students are never left to fend for themselves.
-
Direct Communication: Parents deal directly with the school's official staff regarding their child's wellbeing.
Private Accommodation
Private accommodation is not operated, supervised or approved by Gratton School. Where parents choose private accommodation, responsibility for the learner’s supervision, accommodation, transport and wellbeing outside school hours rests with the parent or guardian and the private accommodation provider.
