Voices of Belonging.
The theme for this year’s Verse Speaking Festival, "Voices of Belonging," turned out to be more than just a title, it became the heartbeat of every performance. In a world that often feels fast and fragmented, our students took to the stage to explore what it means to fit in, to stand out, and to find a home in words.
The festival was structured to challenge our speakers in different ways, ensuring that every student had a chance to shine:
-
The Solos: These performances required immense courage. Our soloists stood alone under the spotlight, tasked with carrying the emotional weight of a poem through subtle shifts in tone and posture.
-
The Duets: Here, it was all about chemistry. Partners had to mirror each other’s timing and energy, creating a vocal "dance" that turned dialogue into art.
-
The Impromptu Segment: Perhaps the most nerve-wracking part of the day! Participants were given a poem and mere minutes to prepare. It was a masterclass in quick thinking and natural storytelling.
A huge congratulations to every student who stood up and spoke. Until next year, keep the rhythm alive!
