Gratton soap-making project fuses chemistry, global collaboration and entrepreneurship.

Building on the incredible success of our Practical Skills Day on 22 May, our Physical Sciences class has proven once again that learning here goes far beyond the textbook. Our learners recently stepped back into the laboratory for another hands-on soap-making session but this time, with an exciting international twist.

Having already mastered the fundamentals during our Practical Skills Day, our learners had the brilliant opportunity to showcase their refined techniques and work hand-in-hand with visitors all the way from Leeds University, United Kingdom. The laboratory was buzzing with cross-cultural collaboration, high energy, and shared scientific discovery as our learners confidently led the way and demonstrated their skills to our global guests.

The fact that this follows so closely after our 22 May event highlights a key truth: soap-making is an ongoing, long-term project at Gratton. This is not a once-off classroom experiment; it is the foundation of something much bigger.

We are actively looking to venture into business and entrepreneurship by commercialising this project, taking our Gratton-made soap from the science lab to the marketplace.
