To prepare our Grade 12 learners for the world beyond our school gates, they recently attended a Career Awareness and Engagement Workshop at the Durban University of Technology (DUT). The session focused on the high-stakes world of Maritime Economics, a sector that is the lifeblood of our province's economy.
The workshop went far beyond just "working on ships." Our learners engaged with experts to discover a vast sea of opportunities, including maritime law, port operations, shipping finance, and logistics management. The engagement emphasised that the "Blue Economy" needs more than just sailors; it needs analysts, managers, and economists. For many of our matriculants, this was a "lightbulb moment," showing them how their love for economics and geography can lead to a global career on the docks and beyond.
The future is looking bright and they are ready to navigate it!
