On the 5th of March, our Grade 10 to 12 Agricultural Management Practices students visited the KZN Poultry Training Institute in Pietermaritzburg where they were taught how to look after broilers, layers and parent stock.

They were also taught biosecurity at the farm, how eggs are handled before they are placed into the automatic incubator for 19 days before they are taken into the hatchery for 3 days. Students also got to learn that the parent stock should stay with their cocks so that they lay fertilised eggs.
